How do I update Hotspot Shield VPN for Windows?

Directions for updating the Hotspot Shield VPN for Windows differ depending on where you downloaded the app (i.e. if you downloaded Hotspot Shield VPN from the Windows Store as opposed to www.hotspotshield.com).

Please note that there are certain features not available on the Microsoft store version compared to the Website version. The Microsoft store version has limited settings and features, while the website version will always be up to date with the latest features and settings.

I downloaded Hotspot Shield VPN from the Windows Store:

For Windows 11

  1. Select Start>Microsoft Store.

  2. After you've opened the Microsoft Store app, select Library Get updates.

  3. If there are updates, select Update all or choose which apps you want to update.

For Windows 10

  1. On the taskbar, select Microsoft Store to open it.

  2. If you don't see Microsoft Store on the taskbar, it might have been unpinned. Here's how to find it: In the search box on the taskbar, enter Microsoft Store, then select it from the list.

  3. After you've opened Microsoft Store, select More>Downloads and updates>Get updates.

For Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1

  1. On the Start screen, select Store
  2. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then click Settings
    (If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings)
  3. Tap or click App updates
  4. Make sure Automatically update my apps is set to Yes

I downloaded Hotspot Shield VPN from www.hotspotshield.com:

If you download the app from www.hotspotshield.com, the software will automatically upgrade to the latest version when it becomes available, usually within the first week or two from the release. There is not a way to manually download the update.

NOTE: Windows 7 is not currently supported.
