Protection Modes

With the release of version 3.0, we have implemented changes to the protection modes. We now have three protection modes available: Selected Sites, Smart, and Full.

Selected Sites Protection Mode: Enables protection only for domains that are listed in the Selected Sites settings. For more in-depth help with Selected Sites settings menu, click here. It is a known fact that when connecting through VPN there will be loss in speed, and the more VPN service secures and encrypts the data the greater speed loss will be. Selected Sites Mode offers a great way to stay protected on the domains that matter most to you and at the same time allows to retain the actual speed when browsing through other domains that you do not want protected. It also allows all your Apps to function at regular speeds with no losses.

Smart Protection Mode: Smart Mode is a new feature that was introduced in v3.0. Smart Mode uses preset logic to determine which type of protection to use depending on the security of the network. This mode will utilize both Selected Sites mode and Full protection mode depending on the network you are connected to. A network can fall into one of FOUR categories: Safe, Unsafe, Mobile, Other.

  • Safe: WiFi Networks that use WEP encryption and are password protected are considered to be Safe Networks. When connecting to those networks in Smart Mode, the App will activate Selected Sites Protection (By Default). This can be changed in the settings, click here to learn more.
  • Unsafe: WiFi Networks that do not use WEP encryption or are NOT password protected are considered to be Unsafe Networks. When connecting to those networks in Smart Mode, the App will activate Full Protection (By Default), which will encrypt and secure all of your traffic. This can be changed in the settings, click here to learn more.
  • Mobile: Mobile or Cellular Networks are those provided by your cell phone carrier. When connecting to those networks in Smart Mode, the App will activate Selected Sites Protection (By Default), which will encrypt and secure only those domains listed in Selected Sites. This can be changed in the settings, click here to learn more.
  • Other: If a Network does not match any of the above criteria, it will be classified as Other Network. When connecting to those networks in Smart Mode, the App will activate Full Protection (By Default), which will encrypt and secure all of your traffic. This can be changed in the settings, click here to learn more

Full Protection Mode: Full Protection, as the name suggests, will enable security and encryption for all of the incoming and outgoing traffic from the device. All of the Apps, services, and the domains visited will be protected.
