*Note: These instructions only apply if you downloaded Hotspot Shield from here. These instructions do not apply to the version of Hotspot Shield VPN downloaded from the Microsoft Store.
If you’re trying to connect to Hotspot Shield and receive this error message: “Something went wrong,” follow the steps below:
Step 1: Start Hotspot Shield manually
- Open “Services”
- Find Hotspot Shield
- Right-click and select “Start”
If Hotspot Shield is already in “Running” status, uninstall and then reinstall the app and try connecting again
