How do I fix the system error message: “Something went wrong” when running Hotspot Shield?

*Note: These instructions only apply if you downloaded Hotspot Shield from https://www.hotspotshield.com. These instructions do not apply to the version of Hotspot Shield VPN downloaded from the Microsoft Store.

If you’re trying to connect to Hotspot Shield and receive this error message: “Something went wrong,” follow the steps below: 

Step 1: Start Hotspot Shield manually

  1. Open “Services”
    Services.png
  2. Find Hotspot Shield
  3. Right click and select “Start” Services_Properties.png

If Hotspot Shield is already in “Running” status, uninstall and then reinstall the app and try connecting againHotspot_Shield_Service.png
